Baby School

So Mama has to go back to trabajo in about a month or so, which means baby needs to find somewhere to hang out for a few days a week. We checked out one place in downtown. Creme de la Creme was new, fancy, close to work, but with monthly payments more than my mortgage.

So on the advice of Edwin and Lisa and later from Gabriel F, we decideded to check out The St Nicholas School (SNS). Here's a play-by-play of us checking out the SNS;

June 23 2006 - This place is about a 5 minute drive from our house, on a side street, in an older quiet neighberhood. (halfway sold). And according to our friends, quite reasonably priced (3/4 sold).

Walking up to this place it was quite a bit older facility than Creme de la Creme. So we approached with furrowed brow. The administrator Lynn, walked us around. She pointed out the bunnies and duckies running around in the yard. (sold). And then we saw the infant room. Again, not as fancy as the other place, but the ladies there seemed like they loved holding the kids. And Lynn said the infant room ladies had worked there for 15 yrs or so (really sold). Jen asked if they had a TV in there, since Vince loves the sound of high volume TV static. Lynn laughed and said no. (Jen not sold).

Despite some reservations, Jen agrees that St Nick's would be a good choice for us. We submit our application fee, and then are told to wait for the admin office (near downtown) to call us back. probably would only be a week or so.

July 3, 2006 - no word from the admin office. so we call, and they say the headmistress is out. They will call back in a week.

July 10, 2006 - no word from the admin office. so we call, and they say that someone will call us in the next 2 or 3 days.

July 14, 2006 - no word from the admin office. so we call, and they say someone will call us in the next 2 or 3 days, but if we could fax them his shot record and birth certificate.

July 15, 2006 - we fax over the birth certificate and shot record.

July 18, 2006 - no word from the admin office. so we call, and they say someone will call us in the next 2 or 3 days. But they do confirm that they got our fax.

July 22, 2006 - no word from the admin office. so we call, and they say "oh we haven't called because we are waiting for your fax". Jen's blood boils red hot.

July 23, 2006 - we fax (again) the birth certificate and shot record.

July 31, 2006 - Meriam (from the admin office) calls. Hallelujah. We set up a meeting for Aug 8 to finalize things.

Aug 8, 2006 - We arrive at the SNS admin office for our meeting. The lady at the front says "oh, i didn't know that you hadn't met with the owners yet, we can't sign you up today". That was it for Jen. Let's just say she raised her voice a little bit, and nearly played the "crying mother" card. The SNS folks accomodated us shortly afterwards, and we enrolled Vince.

So moral of the story; the SNS people that take care of kids seem awesome. The SNS people that take our money seem not so awesome. School starts Sep 1. Wish us luck.

In other news, here is Vince's submission for baby photo most likely to haunt him as a pre-teen
